| Labour's 5 local election pledges were unanimously adopted by Borough Council and we intend to honour them within the boundaries of the current financial settlement. On the Area Committees point, we're talking about improving them or replacing them with something better. It was a previous Labour administration that invented Area Committees after all. The intention was to create a forum for local democratic participation. Hardly any local residents have attended Isleworth & Brentford Area Committees since I became a Councillor which would suggest that this has not been successful. So there is definitely room for improvement. But in any case, we're not rushing to any conclustions on this. Area Committees will therefore remain for the time being while we look at the options. |
