Pauline, you are so right, whenever I have tried to get through to a council dept I have to press at least 20 buttons and then was cut off. What Computer System are they using and did it say how much the cost would be, in my career I have been through 4 upgrades and the cost to the companies was astronomical now when you consider that that was high finance it could be absorbed and utalized, however the council do not need this kind of upgrade, of course we should remember that March is coming along swiftly and any funds that are left in the coffers will be deducted from government issue to our community never the less this money could be better used by keeping our Libraries open. As for the BT upgrade why? are they even considering using the most expensive telecommunications company out there, why not Sky or Cable. It would seem to me that because it is the end of the Financial year that they are just anxious to get rid of excess funds without yet again thinking through the consequences. Incidentally according to Vanessa more redundancies are on the way so does that not prove that the council have no idea of how to run a business because this is how our departments should be run, a profit would soon materialiaze if they had to report to a CEO and at NO extra cost to our community. |
