No unfortunately we do not have the health insurance that you have in Britain. We have Medicare which is insurance for when we turn 65. Most people also have another insurance which pays for what Medicare doesn't. The premiums go up every year and is now quite expensive. Which is not good when you are retired and living on pensions. I believe the State of Maine has a health insurance which covers everybody. Given a choice I would certainly rather have a National Health plan than thriving Libraries. I was simply throwing in suggestions as to how you could keep the libraries going by using volunteers etc. |
