I have to say that I cannot recall the last council which was more to your political liking, doing what you are now so eager to see. Also holding public meetings costs money - money we can ill afford. I dare say that councillors who also live in the borough don't forget, are as sick as the rest of us that they are being forced into making any cuts. I expect that they'd say that they'd like to keep all the front line services, the fact is that they cannot with this government's budget cuts. I would love all our libraries to stay open, but I have to say if just keeping three main libraries, Hounslow, Chiswick & Feltham open helps to keep some of the Youth Service intact or some of the help to the elderly and vulnerable going then I would reluctantly accept it. I think people are just plain daft if they think councillors need 'a jolt', they know how people feel, how could they fail to do so? Sitting at home amd firing off moans and groans is easy - we can all do that - just for a change try being in their shoes and tell us what your solution is. |
