Sorry Hazel, I should have been clearer about what I meant. I agree that the library proper - the part inside the second door - would not be appropriate. The rooms upstairs could be used for small ceremonies and receptions; the entrance hall, sweeping staircase and gardens could be used for photos. Maybe the best thing would be to make it available only on Fridays and Saturdays, only out of hours, or perhaps the Saturday opening hours could be adjusted once or twice a month to accommodate an event. They manage to have weddings/civil partnerships and parties at the Octagon Room at Orleans House in Twickenham while exhibitions are going on in the adjacent gallery, and they charge up to £724 per 1.5 hours. http://www.culture24.org.uk/se000146 If the library was available for private hire, I would have had my wedding there. |
