I hold our libraries very dear, and I will defend them, however, note the word 'reluctantly'. There are other things at stake here, and trying to spread the misery seems to me to be the least selfish option. This has nothing to do with the whip system, people will need to make up their minds as individuals after discussion with their colleagues. I really don't know where you got the stupid idea I was ever a 'political expert', I have never claimed that. As for your famous coalition, given the way you got c****d on by the Tories I find it incredulous that your statement: "any proposal by the senior partner to close Isleworth or Brentford library during that time would have been met with a simple "no" and the discussion would have been over" - is serious, the Tories would have gone along while you were useful but once you'd outlived that use they'd have done whatever they wanted. |
