Vanessa, A laudable argument, however closures such as these are not a quick decision so there can be absolutely no excuse for the money wasted on the library refurbishment's, we are not talking pennies here we are talking hundreds of thousands of pounds and for what? so they LBH can plead poverty and close them. Instead of such expensive refurb's it surely could have been basic's, the people who go to these libraries given a choice would have chosen not to have newly painted wall's at the cost of their library. After all Osterley and Isleworth have cost our Community One and a Half Million Pounds and for what to be told that LBH have no money and 8 out of 11 of our Libraries are up for closure it just is not right. If the council can afford to upgrade their computer system also the telephone lines then I really do not think we are in such dire straits we are talking big money here. Also I do not see the Councillor's or the Executives taking a pay cut. In fact did not the Licensing Chairman recently insist upon a raise because his job had become to complex it's laughable. |
