Isleworth library's refurb ran well over time - no two ways about that - BUT please remember that it was not this council who started the work - all this was done by the last Conservative/ICG administration, and was ongoing at the time of the elections last May. Also it is part of the whole 'Leisure Campus' so the gym etc. has all been updated too, and I believe there was also going to be a cafe included. Whether or not a complete leisure campus was really needed is another thing. There would be Health & Safety issues with gym equipment I imagine, so it may have to have been updated. I think had the last council have known what was looming they may well have reached another decision about doing all this work, but no-one is clairvoyant. As I have said before you can only make decisions on the information you have at the time. I think that you really need to get things in perspective, no-one -least of all me, wants to see libraries closed, but there are tough decisions to be made that a lot of people won't agree with and a lot of competing priorities, the council will be wrong whatever they do. |
