Thank-you Steve, one thing I have learned over the years is that you have to be like a dog with a bone. People in positions of authority (or what they think is their authority) hope you'll have a whinge and then conveniently disappear back into the wood work. The only way to get anything done is to hang on in there and be a complete pain in the backside. We have councillors to represent local people and act as advocates for them, not to be petty dictators and do just as they like, realistically we all know that they have hard decision that have to be made in this awful climate, but riding roughshod over democracy is simply not on. If Anne can explain to me how she squares the circle of councillors admitting they are completely wrong, but stubbornly refusing to put the matter right I for one would be fascinated. What has happened here is also happening in other parts of the borough, and people are sick to the back teeth of being treated like nuisances and walked all over. This matter of the horses is not going away, there is plenty of mileage in this yet, and so much more we intend to do here. Our councillors have a clear choice, listen to us, work with us to sort this out - or face the consequences, and then consider how thinking that promises of saving £2000 cost them far, far more. |
