It appears to me that when you start getting right up the noses of people you have always known are supporters and importantly, your voters you are treading a dangerous path. What politicians rely on is the apathy vote to a degree, but they should not underestimate the small local issues that at first seem like a storm in a teacup. No-one expects them to have a referendum every time they make a decision but neither is riding roughshod over local people to their detriment a smart move. What people give can be taken away, and you would have thought this year they'd have some regard to the damage they could do to their parliamentary candidate's chances, this constituency is by no means safe, and they seem to be fighting on all fronts in Isleworth, and Chiswick isn't too chuffed either. What really p*sses me off is the way they all go to ground and will not engage with the very people who put them in their positions having managed to sod things up. To paraphrase an old film line, 'politics means never having to say you're sorry'. That doesn't mean they won't be sorry for being so bloody arrogant. |
