The recycling rate within Chiswick W4 is pretty good compared with the rest of the Borough - not saying it cannot be improved, especially I suspect amongst flat dwellers and people renting where idle landlords and uncaring Letting Agents have not issued comprehensive instructions. A big blast aimed at ALL Letting Agents to remedy this problem is essential. It should be made law that all tenants are fully aware of the Council's recycling and waste requirements and forced to comply. The Council, Lampton 360 I presume, has to do their bit actually looking at it road by road and then by providing suitable containers - clearly one size does NOT fit all. Our pretty tiny gardens and tree lined streets are paying the penalty of unusable, unwanted, bulky vast plastic containers just dumped & bags of rubbish fly-tipped all over the place. It would be good if our W4 Councillors could come face to face with the ignorant householder but it still requires Lampton 360 to enable the changes required. Our local W4 Councillors have more than enough to do tying to make an impression on the people running Hounslow Labour Council/Lampton 360. In the Riverside Ward W4 many households do recycle but the fly tipping round here seems to have got worse although the area round the waste bins at Grove Park shops and at bus stops in Spencer Rd have greatly improved - overflowing bins are now being cleared away. |
