You make it sound as though no-one has ever recycled. We've all been doing it for years. And it worked pretty well. It's been made over complicated, time consuming and pernickety. To many bulky containers take up very limited space where bicycles could be kept. Impossible to get into most homes here so trying to force people to cycle instead is not really feasible. Especially if a bicycle is adapted from maximum versatility i.e. baskets, panniers etc and covered as damp weather does for most bikes. It's the inflexibility of the system deployed that is impeding the recycling. And it is massively inefficient. And what goes on at a waste Transfer station? Well all I can suggest is a few advocates of recycling ought to go unannounced and watch for an hour or two. You'll soon know why the security is higher than at Heathrow! Maybe all waste transfer stations should have a public viewing gallery. Makes one wonder why bother at all. |
