| Early indications are that recycling is up, but it's too early to tell definitively. I'm uncomfortable with the refusal to collect contaminated recycling - at least it should be done sensitively. If you have a problem don't hesitate to contact councillors - we're determined to make this work for residents and for our recycling goals. I am also working on the acknowledged problem of containers not being replaced properly. I was asked to lay off during the summer when the new system was bedding in but they will be working specifically to improve this with a rota of monitoring from the end of November once the new waste depot is in use and supervisors have more capacity. We chose the three container system in common with many other councils because it enables more to be recycled economically and in the end there are both environmental and financial drivers for that. |
