| You are so wrong about LBE's system. Our streets of small terraces have been wrecked by standard sized wheelie bins plonked into front gardens just because google maps showed a big enough area - causing a fire hazard and security issue and readily accessible to abuse by any passers by. Both have to be hauled out in order to get the correct one out for collection. They are supposed to be returned to the property after emptying but many aren't. They are supposed to be kept on the property but can stand outside all week long attracting flytipping. Estate agents move them a long way away from a building before they take a photo. They have ruined the street scene. And if the resident does not use the food waste bin in the summer they stink because they are emptied fortnightly and are so close to you as you walk past in the street. For a 5* recycling and waste service you would need to pay a great deal more! Good to see that the Government is calling for a consultation on taxing single use single use plastics. Some of these are already banned in other countries. The UK (and in particular England) is very slow on all of this. |
