| Too much emphasis has been put on Recycling when Reuse comes before Recycling in the waste hierarchy (and Reduce comes before that). Recycling is and end of current life solution. So the less you have the easier it is. You used to be able to take plant pots to Syon Park Garden Centre. I haven't been for ages so can't tell you if you still can. Bubble wrap can protect pots and plants from frost (which I'm sure you already know)! This can be useful if anyone is having a clear out and selling stuff on Ebay... You could always offer it to friends or on here - in case someone is doing this - although freecycle is another option. You can find other places to take stuff to be recycled and more info on www.recyclenow.com I had a look for plastic packaging by putting in an old Chiswick postcode I had and did find some answers but can't of course vouch for them. So if there is anything you aren't sure of then you could also try here. Plastic film is more of a problem at the moment with Chinese restrictions. The first step is always to be sure what the Council takes in its kerbside collection and to make best use of it - then you get best value for money. Has anybody managed to get a replacement net for their box? You can order replacement "containers" online. The LBH info is easily accessible now from the front page of the Council website and you can click for more details on what can go in that red box to be clear. www.hounslow.gov.uk |
