"But the truth is we feel we are now recycling less and less diligently. And the one size fits all is locally a retrograde step towards being a third world urban mess." Quite right! And the wheelie bin saga has encouraged a lot more 'flytipping' of general household waste. Its not rocket science. People who are fed up with the 'stazi' attitude of the Council refusing to take recyclables because they may be 'contaminated', are dumping instead in the wheelie bin but, as the wheelie is only collected fortnightly, the wheelies overflow and the council won't take any bags stacked on top of a wheelie. Result - if people have excess for the wheelie they walk around the corner of their street and dump anywhere. Wonderful!! Hounslow Borough is an environmental disgrace. The problem is that our Councillors refuse to address the problem because they are warned by leadership to 'back off' so it will only get worse. |
