Sadly I cannot affect much democratic change on something that affects me on a daily basis. I would gladly trade my votes in North St Margarets to be able to vote in Isleworth as Hounslow's poor decision making does more to affect me than Richmond. My take is this. Church Street being closed has been terrible for traffic on Twickenham Road. I "rat run" down London Road and then St Johns Road to avoid as much as I can. It would be great if more people cycle, walk, etc than drive but for some circumstances this is not possible and I wish the cycle-or-die brigade would recognise this. However, Church Street open two ways is stressful because people turn into selfish jerks behind the wheel and there is only room for vehicles in one direction at a time. I would favour it open going South and put up speed humps or something to slow people who WILL go much faster knowing no-one is coming the other way. |
