| I don't quite think your post makes mine "absolutely wrong" Steve, it merely adds abit more meat to the bones of what I was saying - with abit of exaggeration thrown in for good measure. And as I'll openly admit, I don't always support democracy. If I did, I'd be a complete hypocrite because most of my job involves getting permission for things that many people don't want, or the vocal objectors outnumber the largely silent supporters. Like the scheme I recently got permission for in Lambeth where there were over 100 objectors, a handful of supports, the Council sided with the objectors and ended up both losing an appeal and having costs awarded it (at the taxpayers expense) for unreasonable behaviour. Democracy at its finest. Whether you or I like it or not, the local population isn't always 'right'. |
