I too admire those who put their heads above the parapet not for self fulfilment and ego but for the good of society and our quality of life. Politics has a habit of muddying the good intentions which is why I have steered away from party politics. I don't know what party I could ever align with or trust. But the biggest curse in this country is that of apathy and deliberate ignorance. Too many populist views are now based upon trending soundbites. I just wonder how many voting actually know what they are voting for. How many have read manifestos? How many question them? Not many. Most people on here put their views, issues and anxieties forward but it is so very, very few. Such a small percentage it does not register. That unfortunately, gets capitalised upon. |
