Apathy ? - defined as "a lack of interest, enthusiasm or concern". That doesn't describe me at all, the apathetic amongst us are more likely to be the ones who don't post on this forum at all. I'd describe myself more as a realist, including by acknowledging that come hell or high water no matter what you'll still have alot of sole occupancy cars using Twickenham Road and all other roads at peak times. And it's rather ironic that you brought up the issue of expertise in urban planning and traffic management since I've got 20 years experience of urban planning split 50/50 between the public and private sectors, which inevitably has a close relationship with traffic management issues. But I don't claim to have a solution for Twickenham Road nor the wider issue of traffic congestion or air pollution. My point is merely, and indeed the rather out of context quote from Roosevelt doesn't serve your purpose at all well in that respect, that most of your previous point was an attack on Labour Councillors for ignoring the majority following the public consultation exercise. But I know my point on this particular issue is an unpopular one, which sits perfectly fine with me because this forum isn't a popularity contest. I am nonetheless somewhat tickled by the Roosevelt quote because I'm very much say I am the man in the arena. |
