A number of CPZs have been created as a result of requests from residents.Avenue Road residents together with those of Enfield Rd rejected schemes twice before finally agreeing to one by a small majority last year. Why? The new university building opposite GSK, has attracted students and tutors wishing to park in these streets.Like in other roads there will be less parking bays, but there is a gain for pedestrians who will actually be able to walk on sections of pavement in Enfield Rd where cars may currently park legally.I have been pressing officers to tell me whether there will be a line parallel to garden walls on the section of this street where pavement parking will continue to be permitted ,defining the bay, to allow pushchairs and mobility scooters to actually use the pavement. This street is currently a no go area for the visually impaired and a great opportunity to provide access may be missed. As a driver and pedestrian,I think any additional cost is worth it. When planning to buy a new vehicle residents might ask themselves the question ,"Will this vehicle be longer than my property is wide?"If the answer is "Yes", don't purchase it. |
