I think the football ground going will be the end for most of the pubs and probably a few of the food businesses as well. The matchday influx is vital to the businesses and just about keeps them going. If a CPZ is draconian or the wardens over zealous then passing trade will be wiped out as well. As some locally know, last autumn, wardens hid in a car in Brook road on a sunday morning at 8am and jumped out and ticketed a car that parked on the yellow corner lines to pick up 3 boys for football practice. If that is the shape of things to come then it won't just be businesses that will be damaged. |
