Guy what Sam Christie actually wrote was "My observation is the richer areas have more cpz than the poorer areas..... and as for people in the poorer areas having an abundance of parking - that's what happens when people can't afford a car" There may be poorer areas that do not have CPZs and wealthy areas that do but as I said earlier I do not believe that is the main determining factor. But the main point here is whether or not those who buy a CPZ permit are paying an enforced subsidy to those who have freedom passes, or who do not live a CPZ (or simply do not buy a permit)? Personally I have not seen the evidence to prove this one way or the other. However no one is literally forced to buy a parking permit and there is always an element of personal choice. I strongly support what you say about the freedom pass. |
