Central Government funding to local authorities have been reduced for the last six years. Meanwhile Hounslow Council have not increased it's Council Tax throughout that time and regard it as a badge of honour - but have significantly cut their services regardless - yet proclaiming annually how wonderful they are to keep their Council Tax down through adversity. They could have made very small annual incremental increases to the council tax in order to manage their responsibilities better, but chose not to. The buffoonery of this council is self-evident, and now they hike up the Council Tax blaming Government cuts. They have had six years to plan, six years to ease the pain, six years to exercise sound fiscal management, but due to their failure and incompetence, they now smack a substantial increase on their residents and blame it all, as usual, on somebody else. They must think we are all fools. They want you to blame the Tory Government to deflect from their own gross mismanagement, incompetence or political machinations. |
