I can see the logic in Council house tenants and those protecting the interests of council housing stock having a say or vote on what goes on. I don't suppose I would have a problem with the signs if they faced upwards and could be read by just airline passengers. But these flats can be seen from Kew Gardens, Gunnersbury Park North Ealing, South Ealing and even St Pauls Rec and a few streets in Brentford. Signs like these along city limits have by worldwide association a stigma of sleeze and social decay and dereliction, There's enough of that in Brentford already. If they are going to make ££££££££s out of it then it must be spent in and around the areas it blights. The flats, the grounds, Gunnersbury Park, the riverside and the streets. No way should it go to Heston, Osterley, Feltham or anywhere else. By the same token if they want to do the same on the Ivybridge estate, the money should go to that surrounding fallout area. Exactly how much are the borough of which we are funding stakeholders making from this? |
