One of the things we are always being told during the course of these discussions is that we are not experts, and the inference usually is that we should leave these matters to those who are. Adam is an expert. On this occasion Adam has completely misread the comments of another poster and as a result has, in driving parlance, taken a wrong turning. An honest mistake that anybody could have made, and he was quick enough and gracious enough to apologise once his error had been pointed out to him by a number of other posters who are not experts. No harm done, but the point is this - where would this discussion be now if we had accepted our own inadequacies, said nothing and left it to the expert? The case for public involvement and scrutiny writ large. |
