I think you'll find it's a bit more scientific. Research results showed that signage placed within the field of view of a vehicles windscreen and angled towards the road was not any more distracting than a large road sign. The problem arises from illuminated and animated signs and those that are overly large or bright and just out out the drivers field of view. The other issue is new variable intensity signs which again are animated and have been found to be extremely distracting to drivers when directly in the field of view. There are examples of both of these on the A4. One has been removed because it was fiund to be a cause of accidents at the Junction of North End Road, West Kensington and has since been restricted from using red amber and green and the intensity has had to be reduced by 90%. The others are along the flyover and anyone who uses it will know that at times they can be very distracting either by brightness or content. The worst aspect is what this says about Brentford. A dumping ground and not a toss given about it's environs. All those responsible for allowing this who hold office really must be voted out at the first opportunity as it is a huge show of contempt against the people of Brentford |
