| Putting the planning merits or otherwise of this scheme to one side for a moment, I would be interested to learn from Matt, Ruth or any of its other supporters precisely how the residents of the towers will benefit from the envisaged advertising revenue. Will they receive a reduction in their rents or service charges? Will there be funding available for the community centre or for estate-based projects which will encourage cohesion and participation? Will they be given a one-off Brucie Bonus with their next Hounslow Homes mailshot or a free ticket for a family day trip to Margate? Or will this revenue merely end up bolstering the already substantial reserves of the Housing Revenue Account, viewed possibly as an act of replenishment in the wake of the Rainbow Project and Project Empower? I think that at the very least Brentford residents are entitled to know how tenants are expected to benefit from their sacrifice. |
