I have to say that I do think that putting double yellows on the corners will make things safer for both pedestrians and other road users and will allow safe turning for larger vehicles. What I cannot understand is why they have to be so long (as marked) They are quite short in other boroughs and in CPZs. I too made a few calls about the fire engine test and it sounds very dodgy. Only today a huge builders merchant truck reversed into Grosvenor road and I watched from Brook road on the way to work. Cars right up to the junction and yet the driver made an effortless job of it. Just can't see how a fire engine could not manage it unless a vehicle was sticking right out into the road junction- which does happen but does not need yellow lines to deal with as it is causing an obstruction and can be dealt with without yellow lines or a traffic order. Quite frankly, if the fire brigade really did put a report like that in it reflects very badly on them. Either the drivers ability or the versatility of their vehicles. |
