| Right apologies in advance but I'm about to go on a bit of a non PC rant. 1 - Matt, with all due respect the fact that you are a councillor makes your opinion no more valid than anyone else's. I appreciate that you may have just been trying to introduce yourself but the wording "in case you're wondering why what I think matters in the slightest" would imply that your opinion on a public forum where people post opinions means more than others posting - no need to mention it otherwise 2 - I am getting so tired of hearing this 'affordable housing' argument. Have a look at the Hounslow Homes thread and get your house in order before resorting to a quick fix. We have numerous new developments in Brentford with more being proposed and all we keep hearing about is a shortage of affordable housing. I know of a number of people that have been on the housing list for a number of years with little or no help whatsoever from the council, whilst the Barratts development appears to have turned into downtown Mogadishu (yes, I went there - bring on the racist accusations). If there was an iota of organisation with the Council, both with joined up working with other Govt. departments and within your own processes, criteria and policing then maybe you wouldn't have to build on every inch of land in the name of affordable housing. Not to mention the money you would save. |
