Perhaps I'm guilty myself of causing confusion by talking about Council savings/cuts etc., but just to be clear the determination of the planning application have have absolutely no regard to the financial benefit an applicant (be it the Council, a private company or an individual) may gain from obtaining planning permission, or any financial loss someone else may suffer from the same permission. Parking issues are of course relevant and will be one of the key considerations. I doubt the Conservation Area consideration will be a key consideration - it's hard to imagine an argument could be presented that in terms of their visual or design character, a block of garages makes a positive contribution or enhancement of the Conservation Area. Don't think I support or oppose the application, I have no interest in the outcome either personally or professionally, but am simply providing the 'expert' advice about is and what isn't a material planning consideration. As I said in my previous post, one imagines the notification letters have only recently been sent out by the Council. Perhaps when you read yours others hadn't looked at their post etc. Also, I'd be interested to know how close you live to the site, as that may explain why some of your neighbours haven't been consulted. |
