I appreciate the angle you are coming from, now knowing your experience in planning but the wider issue is that these people are elected officials that are supposed to represent their areas and communities. If the majority are opposed, then regardless of the specifics of planning, the idea should be nixed. As for Brentford as a whole being full, it could equally be argued that it is. We have seen an explosion in building in recent years with no real money being put into facilities (schools, medical etc) to cope with additional residents. The High St is horrible, with no sign of improving, parking is a nightmare. The list is endless. Mandy raised the issue of water supply, which is an interesting point. Another is the increase of rodent infestations over recent years. I don't know of anyone locally that doesn't have rats or mice. Brentford was always known as 'the giant council estate' between Chiswick & Hounslow. This area has done its fair share and it's time for the burden to be placed elsewhere for a change. |
