I do appreciate what Mr Harmer may have been attempting to do but this is a public forum full of personal opinions so no need for the mention in my opinion. Affordable housing is a minefield, I appreciate but, again, I have a couple of (ranting) opinions. The affordable part of your development is not very nice - I've been there. It was also 20%. Why if the Council was serious about affordable housing? Why not more? Why can't they get their own sub-contractors to get their act together to provide the accommodation they're paid to provide? This is yet another quick fix solution rather than doing the long term, strategic, cheaper option. As for this 'but I'd ban any able bodied parent or child living with 2 miles of a school from using a private car to travel to/from school' - easy to say but think of this. I am the mother of 2 children that need to get to school. Until recently I worked in London Bridge and had to put a full day work in. That meant, wake up, gets kids ready, drop them off, get train to work IN TIME to do a full day work so that I could leave on time to pick the kids up. If I miss the train I haven't worked enough or I stay at work and the kids don't get picked up. Very easy to make sweeping statement without understanding isn't it! |
