"Well I guess that if the Deputy Leader of the Council isn't worthy of a response from officers of the Council, there's no hope for us mere mortals." I do not see it in those terms on this occasion. There have been times in the past where I have applied the test "if I get (or do not get) X, how are my constituents likely to be treated" but have not done so here. I have no evidence that any Officer has made a judgement on whether I am worthy of a response or not. There has been a volume of contact on one issue that is not typical and I took the decision to cut some slack in my case (just in case anyone wonders, the complaints were made on behalf of constituents and are not personal complaints). I could have chased the matter but have not done so on this occasion. Of course, I assume that some would not be happy if they thought that responses were going to me but not other residents. The reason for my comment was just to make it clear that I was aware of the problem and not surprised. A lack of response is something that I, and colleagues, do take very seriously. As per my previous posting, I will look into this. |
