The Community Group IS on the case and summoned the Head of Recycling to IBAC Monitoring last Thursday. Barbara Reid, Lead member for environment and Mike Jordan Director of Environment (uh...God???) were also there. You might say the questioning and exchanges were - ROBUST! No-one who was at the meeting could have been left in any doubt that more thought needed to gointo the recycling scheme if it is going to have the much needed results it is intended to have. I have just come back from the Disability Community Forum where the matter was again on the Agenda and again robust questions were asked by myself and Cllr Fisher. If you cannot get through on the complaints/helpline please e-mail Andrew.Sibley@hounslow.gov.uk - he is our PA and will a) ensure the e-mails get to someone who should be able to do something about the matter you raise and b) is keeping a ring-binder of complaints/concerns so that this can be shown to those higher up the food-chain to evidence the concerns WE have with the new system. We all want this to work - apart from it being the right thing to do, if we miss the Govt target of 40% the Govt have the power to levy financial penalties on the borough which will be the equivalent of £100 extra on your Council Tax. Happy recycling! |
