The lady next door used to rush out after the milkman had delivered to collect anything the horses left behind to put on her roses. I wonder if people would do that today? It seems to me they generally just step over anything that someone else has dropped avoiding taking any responsibility - even if it is messing up their neighbourhood! www.milkandmore.co.uk is where you can find out whether there is a milkman near you and you can change your order until up to 9pm the night before apparently. I may yet pay this way - at present I just take a small daily milk and juice delivery that I top up from the corner shop/supermarket when necessary - this makes it easy to know what I owe. I think there will be more electric vehicles. Maybe this crunch will push them forward. Isn't at least one the supermarkets using them for delivery? The trouble is if you use a supermarket regularly the amount of packaging you get increases dramatically. That is why they have the recycling facilities isn't it? They want to draw you back and need to compete with each other over showing a little corporate responsibility. We used to have waste-paper baskets in the home. Then they seemed to turn into all-purpose bins just like you see in the office where people move around on wheels and eat at their desks dropping cans, bottles, banana skins and other food waste in with the paper into their own personal dustbins. Yuk. Time for a change again. |
