"why haven't the council taken them to court." Dawn - nearly 1400 residents did take them to the High Court of Justice. Thus residents' request to the Tory Chair of SDC and the Tory Lead member for environment to defer Thames Water's planning application until the High Court judge had ruled. However, the dim-witted Tories were advised by a Council officer that the residents' case had nothing to do with the Council. However, within days of the Tories agreeing to allow the Macquarie Group Investment Bankers to expand the site to boost its profits, said Tory Lead Member agreed that the stench was out of control and three Odour Abatement Notices were issued. However despite residents' free expert advice on how to word the Notices, said bungling Tories issued the notices and then promptly had to withdraw two of them as it was clear they would be laughed out of any Court. The 3rd Notice still stands but has been appealed by Thames Water and the magistrate has predictably agreed with Thames Water that the case cannot be heard until the High Court judge has reported on the residents' case proving yet again how ignorant the Tories were and how little they understand about the Environmental Protection Act 1990. As Phil Andrews said, this betrayal of the local community and this crime of wilful ignorance and self-interest by supporting the investment bankers to the detriment of the environment and our community will never be forgotten by residents. |
