It was encouraging to see Tory Cllr Brad Fisher join Labour's Ed Mayne and Corinna Smart at the Residents Liaison meeting with Thames Water last night. Not forgetting of course Richmond Cllr Arnie Gibbons. Much of the same old same old was discussed with residents having to draw attention to the fact that Odour Monitor readings had been missing from Thames Water's website since October 2010 and were only in fact made available to the public shortly before last nights meeting. Not surprisingly, although Thames Water's Powerpoint presentation revealed that no notifications had been necessary in December 2010, a resident pointed out that odour had in fact peaked several times in December at up to 3 times minimum legal limits. Not surprising too was the fact many extremely high readings were recorded during the Christmas and New Year holiday periods when Thames obviously had no management on site!! Most vocal at the meeting was MRAG's Environmental Scientist who had several issues with the scope, running and procurement of the independent survey contracted by Thames Water in association with Hounslow Council. |
