17 people according to a Police source, have been hit by cyclists at bus stops in King Street Hammersmith, since June. And they are the ones actually reported. More riders are using the pavements or the outer lanes rather than the dedicated lanes. As a Cyclist I can see why. You cannot pass slower riders and the less experienced get so intimidated by the Speed riders that they have taken to the pavements. What's it going to take to get cyclists to ride safely? The same degree of prosecution foisted on motor vehicle drivers even when the evidence proves them not at fault? I cannot believe the degree of stupid cycling that is now everywhere. It's a skill that needs proper tuition and practice and a sensible mindset. We have the safest roads in the world for it's density and this idiocy of anything goes is rapidly undoing it. So why not get a head start, abandon Kerb Drill, forget looking left or right and put your toddlers in the road to play. |
