| In his posting on 24th June Raymond states that all local residential traffic will be forced onto Windmill and Ealing roads.Surely the Government's initiative is to discourage such local traffic and encourage people to walk and cycle.20 years ago I discovered that it was quicker to walk north to the Piccadilly line than to wait for a bus. Having taken up cycling again at the age of 69 , I notice that the traffic in the residential streets within the area described is less, 20mph restrictions oblige cars to travel more slowly and I feel safe as a cyclist. Even with lockdown easing we continue to see families and individuals with the confidence to walk in the narrowest of these streets. People have reclaimed them and some of us are happy about new restrictions. There are two sides to every coin. |
