It might be pointed out that a house fire in Albany road after it's closure did result in fire appliances being unable to access hydrants and Albany Road which was too narrow. Fire appliances ended up stuck in Lateward Road / St Paul's road and were delayed for 10 mins to get into the correct location. Only two managed to get into the vicinity properly. As for pollution what a load of stuff and nonsense. 30 plus years ago there were queues in Clayponds when Lionel Roads A$ right turn was blocked off. Lionel road was also very busy in the rush hour. Vehicles were far far more polluting than they are now and traffic levels have fallen significantly. Creating a gridlock for one road will increase pollution and the pollution locally comes from the M4 not a few cars , most of which are lean burn and minimal in emissions pootling about. It's not ideal for residents and busy roads but the house prices are reflected in that. But with a Hospital and large businesses in situ ( and there first in part, bad planning in the first place when the A4 was already in existence and the M$ in the q1960s has never really been addressed. But this is really putting people in danger, residents and outpatients and as for walking and cycling, have you been back and seen how many motor cycles are using it as a fast rat run? |
