| I thought we agreed that you weren't going to go to war with the planners?! Mary Harpley is the new Chief Exec - if you'd seen what went before you would appreciate she is an excellent appointment and she is certainly driving through changes that are necessary. I wasn't involved in the Environment appointments, so would not wish to speculate on anyone'smotives - suffice to say neither the director nor any of the assistant directors were reappointed. It is not a clear out though - simply the most comprehensive reorganisation Hounslow has seen with candidates tested against internal and external peers. Some internal candidates have been appointed and some v impressive new managers have been brought in too. When complete Hounslow will have a very different look and feel. But getting a Council to reflect the aspirations of its residents will take a lot more than quality managers - that though remains work in progress. None of the above should dissuade residents from continuing to press for change and faster improvement - external pressure is essential. Just don't assume Hounslow is inert and unredeemable. I don't think anyone has a lower opinion of what Hounslow became, but that doesn't mean it can't be fixed. |
