| The Mela is a free event, not a commercial one. It is always very difficult to get an answer to the question you ask; it depends on who you ask. We are often told that the Mela actually makes a loss and that no benefit comes to the Park; in fact all it does is damage the ground with the parking and particularly the very heavy fair vehicles. But it was seen as a political decision in that they used to claim it was Ken who wanted it here and that it brought prestige to the Park. Now we have another Mayor and nothing's changed. Who can believe anything they tell us? Bela |
