| A cursory glance through this thread reveals a lot about the mentality of the ICG. In a number of his postings, Phil Andrews derides those who are concerned about the park's future for allegedly crying wolf. For example, on one thread (31/10/08) he states:- "The problem with treating false rumour as though it were fact is that one encourages the purveyors of such information to continue with their scaremongering." Of course, this "scaremongering" related to "false" rumours that part of the park was being earmarked for development. Subsequently it has been confirmed that this is, indeed, what Hounslow and Ealing councils have been planning. Of course, anyone who disagrees with the plans (or who raises concerns about them) is deemed to be in cahoots with the Labour Party. Even the protest organiser herself - Bela Cunha - is criticised for involving Ann Keen. But why shouldn't she? Ann is, after all, the democratically elected MP (but not one that the ICG approves of, of course). As Bela Cunha herself states, Ann Keen was contacted by the campaign in August 2008 - as indeed was Lib Dem PPC Andrew Dakers - yet Ann alone was attacked by ICG aliases in the local press for "jumping on the bandwagon". We now have the former manager of Gunnersbury Park's Small Mansion Arts Centre attacking the local authority's plans for a luxury housing development and demanding that the land should be retained for public use. Will he too be tarred with the 'Labour Party' brush by the oh so environmentally concerned ICG? |
