| The systematic neglect of public assets is not habitually used as an excuse to sell bits of them off. It is why so many playing fields are being built on. I remember a few years ago walking through the park and regularly seeing four or five games of cricket on at the same time. This time I haven't seen one. Constantly cutting back on ground maintenance has been a massive blow. However, I'd rather have all of a scruffy but still beautiful park than give bits of it away to developers. Generally with all of these types of deals very little of it comes back for investment in the park. Brentford Fountains is probably next on the list. |
