| I see from the newsstand today that Ann Keen MP has jumped on the bandwagon of spreading alarm about Gunnersbury Park saying that it could end up under a sea of concrete. The park is a victim of decades of neglect that her party presided over. It now requires funding to bring it back to its former glory that would be way beyond the resources of the current administration. With no sensible funding ideas being put forward that could secure the future of the park without some form of development of a section of it there will have to be a compromise. Nobody wants the buildings to continue to decay in the way they have been allowed to or see the park itself look so down at heel. A plan needs to proceed that gives up some of the site to fund the rest. The choice is between a large park which is little used because of its condition and a fractionally smaller one that is of a standard that local residents deserve. |
