| I have just read all the post on this thread in one sitting, (quiet day) and I must say it would only have taken half as long to read if the local councillors, party activist and Politicians poodles, sorry politicians representatives had either, not posted or at least stuck to the point of this thread. Personally I am sick of the lot of them and the constant regurgitated spite and politicly orientated drivel that they seem compelled to ladle into every posting on the forum. Lets get back on course. Bela, your post has left me with a few questions, you state that you have spent twenty years campaigning over the commercialising of Gunnersbury park. Yet you live in Southall, the parks in the same borough but not that close, so how come you have such active involvement in its affairs. do you use it often. Around twenty years ago a proposal was put forward by a Mr Ron Bartholomew a concert/festival promoter to hire Gunnersbury park a couple of times a year. This would have been an opportunity to finance many things and would have promoted the name of the park. It was opposed on the commercialisation argument. I was wondering, were you around then? and if so, did you oppose, and if it was proposed now, would you oppose it on the grounds of commercialism. As for my own view on the idea of selling of bits of the park for houses for 'rich folk', we can be sure they are not for the poor. Its basic thievery isn't it! No matter how its dressed up in a brochure. This seems underlined as such by the apparent wording of the voting options. There is however the possibility that it was not only, not well thought out but poorly worded as well. |
