| It isnt the scapbook that needs delving into. Try the financial accounts of both boroughs as well as the minutes of the Jt. Committee. Substantial money was invested inthe park - not least the S106 money fromthe British Gas site in Brentford. The decision to remove the artists using the small mansion was foolish. If they weren't doing enought o ensure the upkeep of the building with, obviously, financial input from other sources, then why not renegotiate? The truth is there has never been enough money to do much more than keep the buildings ticking over and more investment is needed if they are to be used commercially without damaging their surroundings and increasing vehicle use in the park. Housing will not be the answer. It has been considered before and not progressed because of its impact on the park. Maybe more pressure should be placed on national organisations to assist. e.g. English Heritage, National Trust. Perhaps, also, we could keep the the question of the park and stop raking over old ground for dubious political purposes. |
