Your assessment is rather unfair, I suggest. We see ourselves very much part of the Community and always have. As for threat, there has always been a pending threat from a very unhelpful Council. All the Council really should do, is what is reasonable to expect of our elected representatives, they should work on behalf of the Community. The 'swinging of the axe' ie. chopping wood for the fire, which you make so much of, is history. This is where it belongs. If the Council gets it way, then you will certainly not have a better view of the River. You will also have to suffer years of construction and remodeling and a reduction of public space in the Park. People have no idea about what's coming for the Park. The 900 + piles that the Council plan for the moorings entails, which are not shown on any of the drawings that were presented to the public, will make an awful view over the River front for you to enjoy. Lets be clear, this planning application was passed for one purpose and that is to establish a pretext for removing the Community along with their boats. It is, on examination an awful proposal and would under normal circumstances not get off the drawing board, let alone be passed by the Planning Committee. |
