If the idea was to make it a single carriageway, they should have made the cycle lane with a solid white line and widened the Northbound carriageway" I'm pretty sure that the northbound and southbound Twickenham Road cycle lane approaches are both mandatory solid white lines and are now protected by cones (although it wasn't obvious to me on my bike that I was meant to cycle inside the cones - usually associating them with roadworks and then aiming to keep outside them. However, it seemed to be working much better. I'll check they are solid lines for sure next time I pass by. I see from the LIP Appendix that it confirms this is experimental temporary work to prove if the improved flows from the modelling are borne out in practice - prior to full-scale resurfacing as part of the Hounslow Highways PFI programme. |
